It has been confirmed Glover Teixeira has pulled out of his scheduled UFC light heavyweight bout against dangerous striker Jimi Manuwa, due to injury.
A lot of MMA fans will be disappointed this bout isn't going ahead, because on paper it looked like the type of fight that would end with a KO finish.
The withdrawal of Glover Teixeira currently leaves Jimi Manuwa without an opponent for the main event in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 22 September 2018. However, it is understood Anthony Smith, who is due to face Volkan Oezdemir on UFC Fight Night 138 on 27 October 2018, has put his name in the mix tweeting send me the fight details.
Anthony Smith has had two brutal KO wins over former UFC light heavyweight champions Rashad Evans and Mauricio Shogun Rua, but does he have what it takes to beat Jimi Manuwa who is looking to bounce back with a big win after back to back defeats to Volan Oezdemir and Jan Blanchowicz.
Hopefully the UFC can find a fitting opponent for Jimi Manuwa to save the fight card and give the Sao Paulo fans a good show. Maybe a famous Brazilian (Anderson Silva) could offer to save the day with his USADA suspension coming to an end?
